Went to the range after work as my GF had plans and I didn't want to sit around watching TV. Took my new AR with me along with the Kahr CM9 I picked up last night and my Browning 1911-22.
Wanted to sight in the optic on my AR so I took that out first. Loaded up a Pmag, set my target out to 25 yards and brought over the rifle rest. Fire off the first round and I had it pretty close already, about 3" low and left. Make a few small adjustments to the optic for a second shot and 'click'...WTF? So I pulled turned the rifle slightly to it's side and slowly pulled back the charging handle...empty brass with a strike on the primer comes out...
I know exactly what happened. Pop the take down pin, pull the bolt and shine my light down there, sure enough, stuck bullet. The ONE mother f-ing time that I don't bring a squib rod with me, because I wasn't shooting any reloads, and I actually need it. This is what I get for shooting cheap ammo I guess. So my range time with my new toy has ended with exactly one round fired. Can tell this is going to be a great range trip.
Switched over to the Browning 1911-22, things are going good until the last mag...OOB.
OK, now I am really fed up. But the other reason I took the time to go to the range was to shoot my Kahr and make sure it functions fine, as I did buy it used, although I know the guy and he never had a problem with it.
Made it through 100 rounds of Federal Bulk and 50 rounds of Hi-Shok 115gr JHP, which is what i usually carry. At least this gun managed to make it through an entire session without any problems. Actually shot it pretty dang accurately, keeping all my shots in the 4" black circle on my target at 25 feet. So I got to leave with a small smile on my face, knowing that I can trust my new pocket 9, but man I would have been pissed if I had saved the AR for last.
Lesson learned...always, always, ALWAYS bring a squib rod to the range, even if you are shooting factory ammo.
