    Insight Shooting Range

My 15 year old daughter & her girl friend wanted me to take them shooting this weekend. My daughter's been to Insight Range b4 on a weekday & it was O.K.(can't shoot my .460 S&W) The other girl has never shot a gun b4. Is Insight Shooting range really crowded on weekends? Don't want her to have a bad experience with wait times or idiot patrons. Thanks.

Go on a weekday. Weekends from my experience is crazy and full of college frat dorks shooting desert eagles.

Insight's good to go. Good staff who for the most part keep the frat dorks from going too crazy.

The staff is pretty good there. I just hate being in there when it is crowded with the frat kids trying to impress there dates with there 1337 shooting skills.

that's when i have the most fun. nothing like a big hole where there used to be the center of your target, while bozo the clown next to you impresses the gf with his best rendition of a 12ga pattern using a small fortune's worth of .45acp.

Sad part is I never have been approached by a woman for my "fine pistol shooting", maybe that's the problem

            I'm like a scattergun!!
I think it can be confirmed that an alien xenomorph is absolutely no match for good ole' Alabama black snake!

If you're in a survival movie and the hot blond twists her ankle and can't walk, you damn well figure a way to carry her. If it's a dude, you shake his hand and say "best of luck".

The only thing that bugs me is when they hit the target hangers and make everyone's (esp. mine) targets bob up and down.

They are 15 year old girls. They have school the next day & their dad ain't too young either. Thats why I originally said weekends. I'm just worried about the crowds. How about Los Angeles Gun Club in downtown L.A.?

I just went last weds, 2nd ones in after they opened at 3, pair of corrections officers practicing draw and shoot were already there. Filled up by 4:30 when we left.

The guy 2 lanes down had a 357mag, scattergun patterned his first 3 targets. then he put on a red laser and the laser light show started and still couldn't get anything better than the 6 ring. The 3 college looking guys rented some guns and took up the three lanes next to us on the left, and proceeded rapid fire and shower us with hot brass.

Last two targets before i got sick of the rain of 9mm shells.

$18/hr if you bring your own ammo. +$9/person/lane.

LA gun club is ok...little pricey to go there consistantly. There doesn't seem be really strict w/ the rules. I've seen a few stupid ish. Just a bunch of young'uns. A few days it was pretty empty. Also they don't seem to mind rapid fire. They have a huge collection of handguns, a few shotties, pump aks, a few others I can't recall. I shot slug there the first time w/ the auto shottie. ouch..

                      - my experiences was mostly evening/night times.

Way too crowded on weekends. Last time I went was a weekend because I wanted to try out my new pistols and had to wait until a lane opened up. That was about 3 in the afternoon. If you go later than that I think it'll clear up a bit.

I love that range except I wished there was a "Do not ask your kid to steal the neighbor's brass" sign posted.

So LA Gun Club no longer does one rate for all day shooting? O well, I don't like the area much anyhow.

I wouldn't recommend the LA Gun Club with kids. They weren't very attentive to the firing going on in the range as they were always super busy at the counter. I've seen alot of unexperienced shooters there that didnt exactly make me feel comfortable. I'm not sure what area you live in, but i prefer burbank's Firing Line. They're a good bunch of guys(some are members here too) and are pretty good about watching the range.

I've shot at Insight and never had any problems.

Regardless of where you go, i would call first and ask their policies regarding minors and the waivers. They may or may not allow you, a non-relative, to sign the waiver on the minor's behalf.
