    Shipping an AR with "features" to CA

    Hey guys.. probably a no-brainer question for many of you, but here it is anyway. If an AR is NOT equipped with a bullet button/pinned stock/etc., can it be shipped here, period? Perhaps upon arrival I could have the legal mods completed before its released to me? Will any FFL to your knowledge do this? Seeing some good deals on gunbroker, but none of them are CA neutered( if they're even willing to ship to us to begin with ). Thank you for your time and God bless you!

    Sounds like it would have to be shipped to a dealer with an AW permit. But that dealer may have to prove that the gun is for LE purchase before it will even be shipped here.
    Shipping to a regular FFL is no good. It would be illegally importing an AW.
    Better to look for CA compliant guns.
    It doesn't matter how scary, ugly, uncomfortable, or inconvenient self defense can be. Like it or not, you will never, ever be relieved of your duty and responsibility to defend your life, your family, your country and your freedom.

    How much ammo do I need? Enough to last me the rest of my life, and then lot more for later.

      There is no issue shipping a non-compliant AR to California as long as the receiving FFL has his AW permit. He'd then have to make sure it was CA-compliant before you took delivery.

      Now getting a Gunbroker seller to agree to send a normal AR to Cali...that's another story.

        Most AW permittees will NOT convert an AW to a non-AW OLL.
        We keep hearing DOJ frowns on use of AW permit for that.

        Use a regular CA FFL to receive and,

        1. the gun must NOT be in AW form when it crosses the border into CA;

        2. people who wanna ship separated upper/lower halves with no other mod aren't too
        bright - similar to having a detached grip floating around in the box;

        3. clear & convincing measures (BulletButton, or MonsterMan grip, or Thordsen Customs
        stock, etc.) should be taken so when the gun is in CA there's no question of intent to
        have a noncompliant gun.

          Except a dealer with an AW permit pays extra taxes on each AW they bring in to CA, and unless they have a manufacturing class FFL, they can not modify it.

            Thank you gentlemen. That sufficiently answers my question. I'll just have to be patient, I suppose!

              My FFL told me, lower shipped to him and upper shipped to me is okay, I could add BB once I took possession.
