OC CCW and Sheriff's race. WWYD?

    Hi all,

So few of you might remember that I intended to apply for a CCW permit in Orange County. Now with the Sheriff's race coming, I'm contemplating applying now with Sheriff Carona in office (since he is pretty good on issuing CCWs) or waiting it out til' after the Sheriffs elections and possibly risk an anti-CCW Sheriff.

What would you do? Apply now before the elections or apply later after the elections? I was holding out because I'm waiting on my CCW pistol to arrive, but if it came down to it I have something else I can use for CCW.

    So... what would you do?

If you've got a good cause statement for Carona, I would now.
The process just might take long enough for that pistol to arrive.
You could also add it later.

There's no telling what will happen in the election, we could get someone better, or worse.

If Bill Hunt is elected, he might have to add to the PSD staff.
At the moment, I don't have a good cause statement that will pass Carona's requirements (from what I understand). If Hunt wins and stays true to his word, I'll apply soon after he's sworn in.

Why? Is Hunt more pro-CCW than Corona?

Look at the other posts on the Sheriff's race.
Hunt has posted himself and states he would be virtually shall issue.

I read that post numerous times and it sounded like he tip toed around saying that.

Well, I submitted my application a few weeks ago and am now waiting to hear back from the OCSD on whether or not I can proceed. When I do, I'll post it here.

Valid point. Until he's actually in office we are not totally sure what he will do.
