Building your own gun range on your property?

I was curious as to what the laws in CA are on this, do you just have to be a certain distance from the nearest county road/house/etc or is it really complicated?

here were i live i can shoot on my prop (over 5 acres) but some of the people within ear shot do not aprove.

Well that's one plus.
You really need to check with the sheriff as to whether or not it's doable.
I live in a shoot zone, but with the houses around me all being too close, I'm sol here.
In my county, you have to be in a shoot Zone, 100 yards from any home, and shooting in a safe manner/direction and you're good to go; Of course that hinges on neigbor relations as well.

I remember hearing that too.. My buddy that was a Special Force Ranger MP with the Air Corps, maritime unit told me.

I have been having discussions with a homeowner friend on this very topic. I mean really, who's business is it if you decide to bury a 50' or longer section of 8' dia. pipe in your back yard?

Some guy bought a closed down bowling alley near my freinds place in lakeport and turned it into his own private indoor range. Must be nice to have that kinda money.

I built my own range. Its legal to shoot on private property outside of city limits.
