    target shooting in Sac. County

My buddy lives in "the country" south of Elk Grove. It's technically in Sac. County. The community is a mixture of 5 and 10 acre parcels. Anyone know the law regarding shooting on his property into a vacant parcel next to his? I think for upland game hunting you have to be 100 yards or so from a road or structure.

Thoughts? Don't want the SWAT team rolling in on us for shooting cans or get cited/arrested.

    Thanks

You need to chat with the Sheriff reps in Wilton, and bring a map. http://www.sacsheriff.com/info/servicecenters.cfm
The broad area you described contains two airfields and a correctional facility, as well as a sheriff firearms training site and other Elk Grove municipal facilities. If you are shooting from the "wrong" area into or around a "wrong" area, you will attract attention.

If approved to shoot, you may want to notify the locals before you open up.

It's in the wilton area - far from airport, jail and range. Will call SO as recommended to find out.

You are so close to Sac Valley Shooting Center why not go there? It is a great facility. The CDC use it as well as a lot of LEO's and military groups. Lots of ranges and clubs from 1,000 yard range to all the action pistol ranges etc.

I've been there before - very nice place but it's another hour round trip, plus fees. I'm cheap and lazy

"I think our governments will remain virtuous for many centuries; as long as they are chiefly agricultural; and this will be as long as there shall be vacant lands in any part of America. When they get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, they will become corrupt as in Europe."
