Success at Costa Mesa Crossroads show today

I got to the show today just after 10:00AM and much to my surprise, walked right in, literally, no line anywhere. Which, compared to the last show here a couple of months ago, was remarkable. In fact, when I was walking toward the entrance from the parking lot today, I couldn't help but think I might have gotten the dates wrong because the crowd outside simply wasn't there. Once in, I did my customary recon laps to find the vendors that had things I needed, wanted to see, etc...

Most interesting to me, though, were the ammo lines. They were just as long as ever. But, around 4:00PM the lines for ammo were completely gone and.... there was still plenty of ammo left! And the prices, while certainly still inflated, were still pretty good. Example: 500rnds of .40 S&W for $177 and 250rnds of .223 "blems" (stained or discolored cases) from Miwall for $117! 500rnds of .45ACP for $189 and 1000 rnds of 9mm for $248 from Surefire. All were reloads and all came in small ammo cans. I guess what I'm saying here is; there is ammo out there and the prices aren't horrible. Plus, if you can be a little patient when attending the show, you won't have to wait in line either.

Now, I've got to be fair; perhaps, today was one of those "the planets aligned" kind of days and if you go tomorrow it might be pure hell all day. All I know is, don't bother going first thing in the morning, only to stand in line forever. I routinely show up between 11-12 and generally have little if any wait to get in. I hang out all day and then buy my ammo as I'm about to leave as everything I'm after is still available. So far this strategy has paid off and the shows, to me anyway, are still fun to go to.

I think you just showed up at the right time and they had more ammo that what everyone was thinking. Your day certainly went better than mine. 5 hours in line for ammo... I just posted some pics.

i haven't been to a show in awhile, and the crowds and high prices at recent ones have veered me off the path altogether. glad you did well, though. i'm surprised that there was no delay in you getting into the show when you arrived; i'd say the stars were all in proper alignment.

Even with the line to get in being a mile long they got us in by 9:02. I couldn't believe how well that went. But it was still 3.5 hrs in line at the ammo booth...
