    Hello, I love guns.

I have never personally had the enthusiasm for bows, arrows, spears, air rifles or clubs as tools for recreational hunting and shooting.

If it does not burn combustible powder and go BANG! when a trigger is squeezed or pulled, it ain't my cup of tea.

I understand it is hip for a lot of folks to use bow and arrows to hunt animals. I have nothing against it if that is your bag and you are proficient enough to make consistent clean kills. My grandfather once said he thought it was a joke for modern men to hunt game with bows.

I just hope that the gun hunters are not in competition with the bow users and that bows and arrows, as well as air guns, don't make sport hunting with real guns obsolete or spawn more game laws that restrict the use of guns (firearms) for hunting and varminting further.

It was bad enough when rifles were displaced by shotguns with slugs for deer in some parts and don't even get me started on steel shot for ducks!

I am not trolling: I am speaking my mind.
It is all up to you whether to hear it.

Man... you just don't know when to quit.

Your post says 'bow hunters are losers'.
How about this - 'I enjoy shooting guns'. period.

Good luck with that...... Do you REALIZE there are different hunting seasons - what the frock...... I give up.

    Wow, just wow.

I am not saying the hunters/varminters with bows and BB guns are losers. I am just hoping that legislators don't give them unfair advantages over the powder-burner users. I hope that "alternative methods of take" don't diminish opportunities for the gun (firearms) users. Even the falconers were enemies with the gun users in the field at certain times over the course of history.

Yes, I do enjoy guns, period.

I don't know why you are so concerned. It sounds like you are the type of manly man that hunts big game, moose, elephant, grizzlies, etc. So, I don't see the air rifles competing with you.

Really, it isn't a fair comparison to to use an air rifle against your .700 Nitro Express.

Actually, my game interests are the much-smaller stuff coz I will never be rich enough to go on a dream safari my way:

          1. legal does (small California kind); bows and arrows contend here and I will be damned if I ever use a shotgun to take a deer to boot; a centerfire rifle for me only for deer
          2. ground squirrels; some farmers and ranchers favor air rifles to be used by guest varminters for these - makes me nauseous to think about it
because I am not sure they are powerful enough for clean kills and they don't go BANG! which is not much fun to me
          3. coyotes; no gun alternatives seem to be popular here, hip-hip-HOORAY!
          4. pheasants; a gun-only sport for the most part still, thankfully
          5. ditto for rice-field ducks but that steel shot stuff makes me ill: is steel shot required for ducks in the rice fields?

How do you plan to remove the deer from your thousand plus acres you say you have in Modoc county that you think are yours to kill?. Using your firearms? you have posted in about 5 forums in last couple days and have pissed off a lot of people. Are you just a rabble rousing anarchist or an idiot troller? Perhaps your picture should be on a milk carton. How many forums have you been kicked off of? And if you are a licensed hunter you ask a lot of stupid questions (like do I need steel to shoot ducks in rice fields?) All waterfowl non lead for 25 years.

I have not ever hunted ducks. I don't know "quack" about it to be honest. But I believe that if something tresspasses on my private property, I own it, by God's will. I don't own any land, I rent, but I wish I did own all that Modoc acreage. I have not held a huntin' license since 1996. I can still use tungsten-iron, I believe, if push ever came to shove. Many gunwiters in the past have said that steel shot is a notorious crippler because it lacks punch. Others claim its hardness ruins shotgun barrels.

Another troll post where the OP shows his lack of knowledge by appearing to think that archery hunting might someday replace hunting with a firearm. Hmmm, I wonder which came first.

I'm a hunter. Part of hunting is proper game management. I just hate the thought of any animal, no matter how dumb it is, staving to death. I need to feed it.
