is it safe to dry fire an ak?

I don't see how you could break an AK firing pin.. If you're worried about it, take the bolt out of the carrier...

You could probably toss it into a river, let it sit on the bottom of said river for 2 weeks, retrieve it, pee on it, throw it in mud, pour baby powder down the barrel, check for empty chamber and dry fire and it'd be OK for an AK.
