    This can't be legal...

Bullet Button Ball is a simple tool to release magazine from your AR 15 with installed California Bullet Button.
It can be attached to your rifle or removed in just a few seconds.
Technically it's a tool but it's attached to the rifle. This is illegal.

Since its not attached on the BB maybe makes it legal, almost like those magazine base plates with the BB tool.

I think it's very questionable. Especially if you watch the video. He's removing the magazine with such ease it's almost as if he doesn't even have a bullet button on the rifle.

Yeah, this is exactly what I thought. Anything attached to the rifle is illegal. That's what happened with the magnet button. Didn't the person who made this thing know that?

Some people only learn the hard way. They probably think it is a grey area , but then so are a lot of cell doors painted grey. Maybe they will get a chance to see for themselves.

Its still a tool though that is not attached to the mag release button, Im no expert but does the law allow a tool to release the mag only if its difficult or awkward to do so?

                    The law doesn't say.

What we have is With the inability of CA LE agencies to properly train their officers to identify 'assault weapons' - there are lawsuits on the point - it is better, more convenient if you will, to use a conservative interpretation.

Legal services are expensive, and there is no guarantee of success.

I would offer the difference between this product and the UBBT (or other magazine baseplate tools) is that the tool/baseplate used to release press into the mag lock is NOT attached to the gun. In other words you have to have a spare magazine (tool) to detach the magazine from the weapon, the mag currently inserted cannot suddenly jump out/detach and press the bullet button for you.

I would add that's another reason why the UBBTs usually come out glued in the baseplate. (besides making the magblocks permanent).

Okay so I think I understand completely now, between the lack of training on how to identify an AW, and the general non specific wording in the law the LEO's opinion of what an AW is can vary LEO to LEO.

I know that the question at hand is on Legality...

It seems like you might insert a mag with the ball going into the magwell....

Now you need to reset your OODA loop to diagnose why your magazine will not seat.... Feed Lips? Round in backwards, round sticking up in the mag...etc...

So based upon that perceived flaw, I would not pick one up...

As the saying goes, you can beat the rap, but not the ride....

                            Why risk it?????

The DOJ/AG is not reviewing any of these devices anymore........ so it is up to a local DA/City Prosecutor to decide if you get charged....

If you are in an area where CCW/CHL are issued, you probably will never be bothered.....
If you are in a Blue Zone.... who knows......

I would guess that 10K retainer would be a starting point in hiring a criminal defense team....
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

No. The person who made the video did not know that. So few people know anything about guns that it's shameful. Even among gun owners.

Like that woman thought the bullet button turned a semi-auto into a full-auto.
