San Jose and DelMar were going on the same weekend. So alot of the regulars didn't show up. I predict that the June show will be better because Costa Mesa will be the week before and no other SoCal show that weekend. Maybe the DOJ will be sending out signals of a pending listing and the lower panic will start.

I was disappointed too, NO BULLETS. I asked the guy manning the primers and powders and he said that the bullets might be in Delmar. And he doesn't have enough stock on small primers. I felt so bad that I didn't even try the free beef jerky.

I can't believe the prices on wolf too.

Well, at least I was able to buy mount, clamp and scope for my nagant and the gentleman behind the counter threw in a Spanish bayonet.

Yeah, I went on Saturday AM. Got there at about 10AM. This was the thinnest Ventura show that I've ever been to. It was evident that there were a number of vendors that weren't there this time around.

One vendor (don't recall their business name) was selling about 8 different makes of AR stripped receivers. He had DPMS, Stag, Ameetec, Mega, etc. on display at his table. Prices ranged from a low of $165.00 on up. He had a sign, but with no display model, for the Cobb .308 stripped lowers, for the great price of $1,250.00!!!!!!!!! Wow, such a deal. Only saw 2 or 3 tables that had any amount of AR parts like barrels, small parts, etc.

Miwall was there with primers, powder, and some SA .308 ammo in cases set up in the east building. They had their usual ammo tables set up in the south building. Wolf 7.62X39 was going for $85.00/500, $95.00/500, $189.00/1000. Federal XM193 .223 was going for $105.00/500 (not bad since Turner's price, when on sale, is $99.00/500). Saw South African .308 ammo in the plastic battle packs going for $27.00/per battle pack. I looked through the whole show and could not find one box of .300 RSAUM (Remington Short Action Ultra Mag) ammo or brass anywhere! Couldn't find it at the Costa Mesa gun show either! Guess I'll have to order it by mail.

Saw, get this, 3.5X10 Leupold Mark 4 scopes w/ lighted reticle going for about $279.00, but packed in a plain looking scope box, not the usual Leupold box. It was at the one certain vendor that had the big selection of scopes and parts/barrels for Ruger 10/22 rifles. The lady at the table was telling some hokey sounding story to a customer about how Leupold has/buys their optics/components from a company in Japan and then assembles the scopes here in the U.S.,...........and supposedly,..........the company in Japan still has a stock of these parts left after filling Leupold's contract run,.........and so they're assembling more scopes on their own (supposedly without Leupold's knowledge) and putting them in plain boxes. I picked up the "Leupold" scope and it was engraved with the name of "Leupold Mark 4" on the bottom of the square section that the turret knobs go into. The scope tube felt like it had the weight of a steel tube, not an aluminum tube. But the turret knobs didn't feel very defined as far as the click detents go.

Sure was alot of other crap at this show than before. A lot more of the usual beef jerky vendors, beeny baby/dolls/statue crap, more of that airsoft toy gun junk ( you can buy a real gun for the same price as some of those toy airsoft guns!), vacuum food sealers, and a vendor that was set up outside and trying to sell some radio-controlled cars and other toy crap! I think the "guns" at gunshows are starting to slowly getting taken over by beef jerky and toys! Someday, "gunshows" as we know them today will be called "The Great Western Beef Jerky & Toy Show" with guns as a minor side item.

I caught that too, went with the 500 rounds of xm193 instead. I think cabelas has wolf for 129/1000.

This has been the case for a very long time down here in San Diego. I stopped attending these "gun shows" about twelve or so years ago. Got fed up with all of the non-gun crap that seemed to envelop the whole show. Very disappointing, to say the least.
