    Reputable FFL in Bakersfield

Planning to drive a couple hours up to Bakersfield for a PPT, but I've never been up there and if there are any problems it would be a real hassle because of the distance. Anyone up there know a good FFL?

Try Ray Cox. Super great guy. He is listed as an FFL if you Google him. There's also the Ammo Dump on Easton Drive. Call ahead at the ammo dump and he will do a PpT.

bear mountian sports on weedpatch hwy and the 58 freeway there quick and easy and open till 6 mon - fri and easy freeway access about 6 mi east of the 99 on the 58 i do alot of transfers there. Stay away from 2nd amendment sports for sure (way too long of wait crappy service and there prone to screwing up the simplist of things) and valley gun (however really nice people) get busy and almost always takes over an hour to do a ppt. IF you can get ahold of ray cox AND hes available he would be the best choice for PPT cause he is home based and works by appointment so worst case he has one person ahead of you but that has never happened to me. also really nice guy but he does the FFL thing on the side for fun but is still very professional.

Get a gun is real good but its too hard to coordinate with Raphael to meet up let alone too pick up when u want. Some days he doesn't answer or txt back or he goes on vacation or is shooting matches however other days he on it quick. So where u get great customer service some times other times he can treat u like ur just another one of the 500,000 people in kern county who all want a gun. But that's what u can expect doing it all urself n being real popular and busy... One man can only do so much. So it can get frustrating for example u wait till 1pm to come by then he tells u 1 more hr then doesn't answer till 330 then says he has to go then doesn't answer the next day but sends u a txt saying to come by the next at noon so then all is well and he's quick and hooks u up but when u go to pick up 10 days later he leaves for a week so there goes another 5-7 day wait and when he comes back its a mad house an u have to get over to his house while he's home and he has a backlog of people all trying to pick up there guns and u can sit in his living room for up to a couple hrs.

Is Taft closer to you than Bakersfield? I hear there's this antisocial redhead guy who runs a store there. Called 10%-firearms or something like that. I heard a rumor he used to be a male model for Honda scooter ads.

Yeah if u are close too Taft 10 percent is both good and available. Always quick to help u when u go in, somewhat competitive pricing and good ar accessories selection and u don't get a crowd unless a couple drilling crews show up, but what's the chances of that happening. Don't know bout previous posts comments bout the red head Honda model... I was always helped by a girl there.

PPTs are different than all other gun sales. You don't need a good FFL, just one that processes PPTs in a time that is convenient for you.

That being said I would use Bear Mountain Sports. Easy freeway access and good hours.

As others have said, Valley Gun might take a while and others have had bad experiences PPTing at 2nd Amendment, though their hours are good too. Ole Boy would be a great choice, but it isn't as easy for freeway access down on the far side of Rosedale Highway.

I would not use any of the kitchen table guys as you have to coordinate their hours with yours and that can be a pain. Rafael is a great place to go for great deals, but you have to get a hold of him and that can be difficult to do. For a PPT, it just isn't a great idea.

I process PPTs in record time and you are treated like the paying customer you are, but we are out of the way and not convenient in that regard.

Again, asking for a good place to PPT is not the same as asking for a good FFL. PPTs are all about convenient hours and easy access, not about pricing and other goodies for sale.
www.tenpercentfirearms.com was open from 2005 until 2018. I now own Westside Arms.

Bear mountain is the most convenient for the highway. I would avoid Second Amendment like the plague foe their poor service and inability to properly do the paperwork. I do not trust them at all.

Valley gun or Bear Mtn sports. Both are close freeway access, both are good honest stores, both do not limite PPTS in any way.

Well, if you have to go "up" for two hours, that means you're going over the Grapevine? Split the driving difference with the other party and head to 10%. Wes likes to show off his shoot-while-riding-a-scooter skills.

i have a few friends who have used S-Mart arms. The owner, Daniel, was pretty helpful and well recomended.
