Why no 80% semi-auto shotguns?

I know there are really no parts kits for the Saiga or the MKA 1919, but I would think if there were 80% build options on the market somebody would make parts kits. Are there legal aspects that I may not be aware of?

I know I would jump on this in a heart beat! When I get a mill and lathe maybe it would be worth it to play around with the idea.

Dude the whole process of making something from scratch to a final product is expensive. There might also be some legal/copyright/patent laws involved too.

Can't go copying parts to sell them for things that haven't had patents or whatever run out yet like you can with an AR, AK, 1911, 10/22, etc.

There is also likely a massive lack of interest compared to rifles, and up until fairly recently it's not like those shotguns were impossible to come by.

parts availability is also a crucial consideration. There aren't many MKA1919 or saiga12 surplus parts kits floating on the market.

I have been building my companies products from scratch for a few years now, so I know the cost involved. I am looking for something to hone my skills and then maybe provide something to the market. Open source DIY kit (of my own design) semi auto shotgun someday... I am definitely not a John Moses Browning right now.

Its just not commercially viable to produce
