Cabelas now limiting ammo sales

Just saw it tonight, and it was the first time I have seen/heard of it.

It now says:

Because of a dramatic increase in demand of certain ammunition, Cabela's is limiting the number of boxes of ammunition that can be purchased. This limitation, which will be lifted once supply catches up with demand, will provide the best chance for the greatest number of our customers to fulfill their needs. Please check the product page for quantity limitation.

Looks like a limit of 5 per order for .223 or long rifle ammo and handgun ammo. There is a limit of 1 per order on any rimfire!!!! And no limit on shotgun ammo.

Good, I have no problem with that. Means more people can get stuff instead of the hoarders.

Hopefully they only allow one per card per house per person.

Just confirms what I suspected, in that manufacturers have put 22LR production on the back burner and have focused on centerfire round production for now.

Maybe before putting ammo restrictions in, they should fill the backorders for those of us who have been waiting 2.5 months already.

I think that's reasonable. Otherwise, hoarders sleep on their door step and empty the shelves instantly .. then post it for sale here for a buck a round.

Since they are only allowing 1 box of rimfire compared to 5 of centerfire tells me that rimfire is much harder to come by.
I have been able to buy just about any round I want with some work but haven't been able to find the rimfire I want and my ammo order I placed back in late December from Cabelas I received everything but the rimfire and the arrival date keeps getting pushed out.

The problem with the limit is by the time you add freight to the order, ammo is not very cost effective.
