That's a pretty sweet rifle. Is the stock original? I know you said no cosmoline on the stock, but wow, that stock looks like it has no dings or scratches.

Heh, long story short on why i bought it. I was going through this whole ordeal with an ex who was contacting me, she turned around and told her husband that I was stalking her and that I did all sorts of unspeakable things to which was a plain bold lie. He threatened me which I didnt take seriously then told me I was violating a restraining order (which didnt actually think existed because I was never served nor gave her reason to serve one, in fact, at the VERY end I ran away). So I was talking to the guys at work about it and we started laughing about the hard corez shmuck threatening to kill me over the interwebz with counterstrike weapons and I said, "hey if I supposedly have a restraining order against me, I cant buy a gun right?" I went to the back room and shuffled around the SKSs which was affordable at the time and found this gem. DROSed it and ten days later guess what, my background check went through
Thing is, I really really really hate how cosmoline feels in my hands. its a wierd idio-idiosyncrasy and I get this weird disgusted look on my face when I hand a customer a gun with it on. Thats why I didnt even take it out of the box till about too months ago. It was just floating around my house where ever I had room to toss it. I finally stuck it in a gun sock since there was not cosmo on the stock and forgot about it. Since Im leaving for several months soon, I want to go out to the desert and light up the landscape one last time with my pals and I thought, "hey, maybe I should finally clean this damn thing up."

Stock is the one that the rifle came with. all the numbers match but I think thats KBIs numbers, probably not the original yugo ones. The wood on the gas tube housing is a completely different shade though so thats not original.

nice m59 that is really clean. i hate cosmo as well, so gross.

i had to de cosmo my old m59-66 (now owned by ImOverHere) and my current norinco parkerized ghost ring 870

i hate the stuff it absolutely disgusts me as well. what i hated most is that cosmo would seep out of that 59-66 and hit the hot bolt while iw as firing and smoke off. i flipped out and thought my damn gun was on fire the first time i fired two full strippers and ejected the magazine bottom. i had a good laugh with my buddy when i figured it out

It's an M59 but it has an M59/66 stock.

Most M59 stocks don't look anywhere near that nice. Somebody at some time must have replaced the original M59 stock with a really nice M59/66 stock. The cleaning rod seems to be missing as well.

I've had mine about a year and a half, still in cosmoline.
I don't feel that bad now.
It looks like a project I might get started on today, now that I think about it.
