I just picked up a lower receiver through consignment from a local dealer but my DROS copy doesn't have the serial number on it. I have a separate piece of paper that looks more like a sales receipt for registration that does have the serial number on it. Should I be concerned that the DROS copy doesn't have the serial number?

Yes. If the cops run your serial number and it doesn't come back as registered to you, you are heading to FPMITAP for sure.I just picked up a lower receiver through consignment from a local dealer but my DROS copy doesn't have the serial number on it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that long guns are not registered in CA. No serial number required for DROS, just background check, right?"Those who fear your guns do so because they know they are guilty of things for which they should be shot"Comment

This is completely incorrect. Long guns are not currently registered in CA by serial #. Police that run a serial # on a long gun can only check and see if that serial # has been reported as stolen.
When you purchase a long gun you have to wait your 10 days for a background check and a "cooling off" period. No serial # attached to the dros.
In 2014 this all changes though and the serial # will be part of the dros process. Its not paranoid.....its prepared.

You didn't pick up on the sarcasm with the "FPMITAP" bit? Although technically it should have been FPYITAP, unless tenpercentfirearms plans on getting PITA just because someone else didn't have a serial number on a DROS for something that wasn't a handgun. It's great that he's willing to take that AP for his customers though, lol. This is completely incorrect. Long guns are not currently registered in CA by serial #. Hey, I remember when I was 18 and could buy a rifle or shotgun in CA cash and carry. Those were the days.
I bought a Mossberg 500 cruiser on my 18th birthday. No stock, just a pistol grip."Those who fear your guns do so because they know they are guilty of things for which they should be shot"Comment

Nope. I didn't have my decoder ring handy to figure out his long acronym. HahaYou didn't pick up on the sarcasm with the "FPMITAP" bit?
