Having never used Gunbroker I have found a couple 1911's I am interested in. Please excuse the newb question but how can I determine if they can be shipped to California?

First thing to do is determine if the seller will even ship to California-many of them won't.
Next thing is to take the gun in question and run it through this:http://www.calguns.net/caawid/hgflowchart.pdf
I don't always save the world, but when I do, it's in 24 hours or less... -
+1 That will be your biggest issue. Also if seller is not FFL find a LGS/FFL in the sellers area to safeguard the transaction. No gun, no money. I have used G.B. many times with no problems.First thing to do is determine if the seller will even ship to California-many of them won't.

I use GB regularly for ammo purchases but have never purchased a firearm. Check the list first then find your favorite local FFL to help with the transfer. If the gun is on the CA approved list, you should be good to go. Just don't buy any magazines larger than 10 rounds or don't let the seller ship them to you. Your FFL won't release them to you and it would be a waste of your money."Those who fear your guns do so because they know they are guilty of things for which they should be shot"Comment

. Good advice unfortunately some folks on gun brokers support the Leftist cause and just will flat out not sell to us Californians regardless of DOJ list. Darn I hate when they do that.First thing to do is determine if the seller will even ship to California-many of them won't.

Because out of state guns must be shipped to a CA FFL they must be on the CA Not Unsafe Handgun List.
A few times I have successfully persuaded Gun Broker "No Sales To CA" sellers to sign up for the CA CFLC. Many sellers don't realize how simple and free it is and are glad to do it once you educate them.
Dear Mr. ___
I beg you to reconsider your No Shipping to California policy.
It is extremely easy to enroll in the California Firearms Licensee Check (CFLC) program. No fees are involved.
You just enroll once, online, using the information from your FFL, then whenever you ship to California you log onto the CFLC, enter the name of the FFL you're shipping to and then you get an approval number. You send the approval number to the receiving FFL and keep it in your file for three years with your other sales records. It's all automatic, done by the computerized system, no waiting. You can set this up in less than 10 minutes on your computer.
Here is all the information you need:
Quick Link - GO TO CFLC What is the California Firearms Licensee Check System (CFLC)? California Penal Code Section 27555 prohibits all Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs), other than Type 03 or 06 FFLs, from shipping firearms to a FFL in California unless, prior to delivery, the FFL intending to deliver, sell or transfer the firearms obtains a verification approval number from the California Department of Justice Bureau of Firearms. This includes transfers that occur at gun shows. The CFLC system validates a California FFL’s active status against the California Centralized List.
California Firearms Licensee Check (CFLC) Program Are there any costs or fees to obtain a Firearms Shipment Approval number from the Department of Jusice (DOJ)? I am not a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) but I want to ship a firearm from another state to an FFL in California. Do I need to obtain a Firearm Verification Number before shipping a firearm to California? I am an FFL in California. How does the CFLC program affect me? Are any California FFLs exempt from the CFLC verification approval requirement? I am an FFL located outside of California.
Welcome to the California DOJ Bureau of Firearms The Bureau of Firearms serves the people of California through education, regulation, and enforcement actions regarding the manufacture, sales, ownership, safety training, and transfer of firearms. Bureau of Firearms staff will be leaders in providing firearms expertise and information to law enforcement, legislators, and the general public in a comprehensive program to promote legitimate and responsible firearms possession and use by California residents. ATTENTION Ammunition Purchase Laws Are Still in Effect — Rhode, et al. v. Bonta, No.
Please let me know if I can change your mind.
Thanks,

The gun doesn't have to be on the list if its being shipped to a 07 FFL who can do a Single Shot Exemption (SSE) for you. I had a Half-Rail TRP that I bought on GB from a dealer in PA. He sent it to my LGS who performed the SSE for me. I actually just did another SSE for an Elite Enhanced P226 that I picked up today. If you don't have a local 07 FFL, have it sent to Table Rock Arms, they'll convert it for you and send it to a local FFL. From there, put the original parts on and send the SSE parts back to TRA. There's a thread somewhere with a list of 07 FFLs and non-07 FFLs who will accept the Single Shot Conversion.
I think your closest 07 FFL is EBR Works. Good luck!Comment

yeah... you'll see this A LOT on GB as you're perusing through the ads. It's not that they're supporting the Leftist cause, it's just more work for them to ship it into CA (compared to shipping to a buyer in a free state). I understand why they do it... it's really up to the law-abiding CA citizen to vote the gun grabbers out of office.
For example, if it was you selling something, and for one buyer, all you had to do was ship the item w/o dealing with any additional paperwork; or shipping to a buyer in CA and had to worry about extra paperwork, and then making sure that the receiving FFL is going to accept the transfer, etc, etc... which would you choose?
There are plenty of FFL's/LGS's here in CA who don't support us CA gunowners... i.e. FFL's who won't transfer or sell Stripped Lowers, etc, etc. Why worry about the out of state dealers when a lot of the dealers in our own state won't help us out?
Worry about what's going on in your own backyard before trying to tell your neighbors how to live...
sorry for the long winded response... it's just that I used to think like this until I started thinking about it. It makes me appreciate the FFL's who do support us here in CA that much more.CRPA Lifetime MemberComment
