FIXED! Boken brass jag. Need help extracting from the rod

UPDATE: So first and foremost, HUGE Thanks to Cactus_Tim, who offered to come over to my place with his tools, to help me with this dilemma. After short phone conversation with him, I had a an idea, since he said it should be easy. Well it was easier than I thought. I put my finger on top of the broken piece, applied some pressure, and twisted the piece out with ease. Needless to say, I called CT back right away and saved him the trip to my place.

I feel really dumb for not trying that to begin with and saving myself from posting this and all of you wasting your time reading it

So I accidentally leaned the Tipton carbon fiber rod while the tip of the jag was in the chamber. Needless to say, the jag snapped at the base. How can I safely, without damaging the thread in the rod, extract the threaded part that is stuck in the rod? Thanks in advance!

Use a small drill bit to drill out the broken shaft. Not all the way, you don't want to damage the threads in the rod. Next get an ez-out. It's a reverse threaded bit-like thing. Sometimes you can use something pointy instead of the ez-out. Then just unscrew the broken part out.

Use a small drill bit to drill out the broken shaft. Not all the way, you don't want to damage the threads in the rod. Next get an ez-out. It's a reverse threaded bit-like thing. Sometimes you can use something pointy instead of the ez-out. Then just unscrew the broken part out.

That's how I always tackled such problem, however, this is pretty small diameter and I don't want to f**k this up. Surface looks somewhat even, but getting to drill this directly in the middle will not be easy.

The center appears to be plastic????

Cut a groove across the center and use a screwdriver. or.. heat a screw driver and push it into the plastic. Let it cool and unscrew it.

Drill it out and try the head of a nail. A nail that has 4 chisel types sides that taper to a point. Don't force the nail in to hard or you may pean the part into the threads. If that doesn't work, get an easy out.

They make left handed drill bits. Catch the Mac truck. Bring money. Or the Snapon truck. Bring mo money...

Or try drilling all the way through. This will relieve the tension on the threads and you should be able to back it out with a knife point.

Drill it through and use a knife or small flat screwdriver.

Center punch it, then use a left handed drill bit. Available at most auto parts stores, and Orchard Supply Hardware. If the bit doesn't work then you can get a easy-out.

This is a 1 minute job in a lathe with a center drill and a left hand drill bit.
I do 1 minute jobs for a cold root beer.

Left hand drill is probably your best bet. There is no tension on that stub, you may be able to spin it out with a sharp scribe or two as well.

Go to $.99 store and get a cheap set of jeweler's screwdrivers. Heat the end up and push it into the plastic then let cool off and unscrew.

Super glue the broken piece back on. Unscrew with fingers.
