CCW question, no answer in LTC forum

So I am filling out my application and want to choose who will give my letters of reference... It doesn't specify any particulars about what should be in the letter, length, etc.

I know when I ask my buddies to write something, they will ask "what should I include in the letter", and as of now my answer is "not sure".

What key points should be in the letter?

It' really more of a short list of yes/no questions with an optional area for a brief written statement.
The real key to the letters of reference is to make sure they are returned to and received by the issuing agency. Stay on top of your recipients and check back with the IA for delivery conformation. In my county, the CCW process goes no further without them in hand.

I am confused, the application does not include anything that resembles "yes/no" questionnaire ... nor does it have a place to include their information.

Do I just write their information on a word doc that has their contact information and mentions they are aware of what I am applying for?

Really, you should ask the Sheriff's office - they can tell you what they want to see.

I believe the letters just need to state that you are of good moral character.

I guess because it's posted in General.

The letter wants to say how long they have known you, in what context, you are good guy, good morals, good values, gets along with neighbors, no problems known to them, you are not a drunk or a wife beater, that kind of thing. They have to be reachable because SBSO doesn't have the staff or time to keep checking.

I love that Fresno County does not require these letters. Fresno City does. They are just trying to find out if you are a good person.

For my county, the initial CCW application form has three line inclusions for the NAMES AND ADDRESSES of three character references that will be sent the "yes/no" questionnaires. Perhaps your county does not require character references, one less hoop to jump through.
