'Ban' language does not apply to California.

Possession in-state on or before [some date] is sometimes relevant, as large-capacity magazines, and if the further action of registration was timely executed, applies to 'assault weapons' and .50 BMG rifles.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

Pre-ban = A term used in the 1994 AWB years. The uppers deemed pre-ban had bayonet lugs, threaded barrels, flash hiders.

Post ban = was the term used for the years between 1994 and 2004. Those uppers had chopped off bayonet lugs, welded muzzle brakes and non-threaded barrels.

Neither of those terms matter in CA.

If you have a detachable magazine you cannot have a flashhider. Read the laws as others have told you.

          Good luck

Thanks for all the advice .
I have been looking at some uppers post and pre ban . Pre ban must be a screw on flash suppressor , post must be permantly attached .
In our state I am presuming the suppressor has to be a permanent part of the barrel ?

What ban? It doesn't matter since the Federal ban expired years ago. All that matters in CA is that you have a bullet button if your rifle isn't featureless.
