    Daniel Defense

I just had the upmost annoying email from Daniel Defense after ordering two complete barrel assemblies that I need for two builds that go something like this...

Thank you for your recent purchase from Daniel Defense. Your business is greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, we have identified an inventory inaccuracy and some parts that were listed as in stock on the website, in all actuality, are not in stock. We acknowledge these growing pains and want to ensure that we take care of our customers in the best way possible. We will have to cancel and refund the orders in full for items not shipped. Every affected customer should have received a telephone call from me and a voicemail if it permitted me to leave one. I am sending this email to ensure that contact is made and you are made aware of the issue. We realize the importance of talking with a human on the telephone to get this resolved, this is an email in addition to that. If we have not yet spoken and gotten the order resolved, please call me directly at (912) 851-3220. If email is preferred for contact, please respond to this email with "ATTN: Jessica" in the subject line and I can explain exactly what component is the issue. I thank you once again for your business and patience with us at this time and I look forward to being able to resolve your order personally.

    Respectfully,

    Jessica Watson

    Why is this annoying?

Should they have just kept your money and kept you on back order for, who knows... A year?

In light of the current events this would send me back to the bottom of the pile to wait who knows how long as you stated. I think instead of sending out two barrels rather than this email would have made more sense as far as customer service is concerned and how about asking if I want a full refund vs staying with the purchase? I need parts not email

Should have bought 4 months ago?

Put yourself in their shoes, they are having trouble keeping up with making complete rifles. Why would they start a back order for barrels when they need to put them into their rifles to sell

Here's a thought, Jessica states that they've identified the component or whatever manufactured manufacturing issue is causing them to cancel orders. Wouldn't it be refreshing if they corrected whatever issue is prompting this; they give you the option to keep/cancel your order and if maintaining your order, fulfill your order before someone else who placed an order after your initial order date rather than cancelling yours?

I apologize for the gratuitous use of the word "order".

The component "at issue" is the order price. Cancel orders at previous prices, then take new orders at new, higher prices.

Because not every vendor wants to deal with backorders, especially considering it's for a component that could be a year out since they want to fill orders for their rifles first. On top of that, dropping the orders also avoids the inevitable daily flood of phonecalls and emails(which takes time away from getting anything else done) of people demanding weekly updates for their backordered items. You may understand that the order could take 3, 6, or even 12 months to get filled but most people are stupid. Another problem with lots of backorders that can't be filled for an extended period of time can be dealing with payments, people have cards expire, cards cancelled due to fraud, etc. so even more time ends up being wasted trying to get up to date payment info months later(assuming they didn't take payment up front, which has a different set of potential problems).

WOA that I ordered from not too long ago over the phone was actually hesitant at first about even taking my order due to the expected 6 month or more wait, but once I pointed out that I was already aware of that the tone of the conversation changed.

Interesting, now that you mention that, I don't remember seeing Daniel Defense on the "Nice" list at policeloophole.....
