    Dads mini 14

What's the deal with ruger mini 14's nowadays. My dad bought one a few months ago. I told him to by 5 lowers instead but didn't listen to me. We took it out shooting and it ran fine for about 2 mags. The extractor started to come out of the bolt. I then told him to send it back to ruger. He instead took it back to the dealer he bought it from because he didn't want to wait a few months to get it back. They got the parts needed and "fixed it"'. My brother took it out a few weeks ago and the same thing happened. I don't think it was the shops fault one bit but instead solely Ruger's piss poor quality

Ruger is good about fixing their product. Send it back to them and they will make it right.

I have a new Mini. It runs without a hiccup on anything I feed it (typical for the Mini). Your dad just got a lemon, which can/will happen with even the most high-quality gun companies. (I had a Sig I had to send back). The new Ruger Mini14 is built just fine, with the same QC that it always has (IMHO). Send it back, and Ruger will make it right. Simple as that.

And don't tell me you've never heard of an AR with a failure.

Wow - I've had 3 Ruger firearms over the years and all have been rock solid. My Mini 14 will eat whatever ammo I put in it and has operated without a hiccup.

My dad's went for something like 20,000 rounds without a problem before the barrel rotated in the reciever. Called Ruger, they said send it in, if it can be fixed its free, if not they can send it back or give a major discount off a new one. They had great customer service.

I had a Mini-14 years ago (early 180 series I think) and even though it had an 11.5" barrel (w/permanent flash hider) it gobbled up everything I stuffed into a magazine for many years without a hitch. One of the most reliable semiautos I ever owned...wish I still had it.
Always heard they had good customer service tho- so just send it to Ruger & they will take care of it for you.

I have many Rugers, and none have ever had a problem with heavy usage. Give them a call. Great folks there, and they will take care of it.

I had an older model. Sent it back and they rebuilt the thing for free. The accuracy still sucked and that is why I sold it. The customer service was great though. They have a better product now.

I'm no kid. I've owned 3 minis & have beat the snot out of the first two. Never had a single issue with any of them. Not one FTF, FTE Nothing! No stovepipes, no this no that, just POW!

Ya if the union did it it would take 3 years do get it fixed but at least it would be done right . I am personally have a distaste for them. Inaccurate for one. For two I had one in the safe for 10 years. I've need mine fixed also but want to deal with the hassle. My ruger mini 14 ran like a champ till I ran wolf lacquered in it. It finally sheared of part of the bolt. Back then I could see why they would just send me a new bolt. I understand head space now so can't fault them for that. I also have a mini 30. Talk about jamomatic with aftermarket mags. Again no fault of Rugers. We will see what happens when my dad gets his back.
