accidental shooting statistics - little help, please

i'm looking for websites with stats, if any exist, on accidental shootings by people defending themselves from criminals. collateral damage, if you will.

the reason is gun-control advocates often cite danger of accidental shootings as reason to restrict lawful carry. i'm wondering if any hard data exists to support or shoot down their argument.

Depending on whose value for Defensive Gun Use (DGU) you accept, roughly 800K through 2.5 million the number is 'fairly small' (about 1.9% of incidents) to 'vanishingly small' (about 0.65% of incidents).

But we don't have accurate numbers of DGUs, so we don't have accurate numbers of accidental shootings associated with DGUs.
