    kept pistol in a microwave

Aalaya Walker, 18, preheated the oven of her apartment in Tampa, Florida, to make herself waffles - not knowing that Javarski 'JJ' Sandy, 25, had stashed his pistol magazine with four live rounds in the appliance.

Why does the title of this thread say microwave?
preheated the oven of her apartment
        The oven in question
the magazine had melted and the oven was heavily damaged
The article says nothing about a microwave. The pistol wasn't even in the oven, it was the magazine.
told police he took the magazine out of his gun and put it in the oven. He put the gun itself in a drawer,

And no pistol in the oven, just a pistol magazine with 4 rounds.

I think he meant "She kept the pistol in the microwave and the ammo in the oven" as a joke... I could also be very wrong. lol

Interesting that the UK new source added this portion sort of as a technical commentary, but that was not to be found in the US sources.

"However, without the high-pressure of a gun chamber, the round is less likely to be deadly since the explosive force is dispersed."

One possible explanation is the OP posted at 5:20am and the story was "updated" at 6:36am.

Maybe the article did mention microwave and they removed that?

As to the injury I wondered how she was injured when rounds cooking off should have been contained by the oven. Possibly she heard a round cook off and she opened the oven door to see what's up as another round cooked off. Still, I'm surprised she was injured at all.
