I got a chance to visit a new gun shop in Morgan Hill (Lokey Firearms) to do some looking around. Not much of an inventory because of the "scare", but i did find out that our great state of California isnt shipping out any "safety tags" to shops even after taking the money for them. No notice or anything. In the 20 minutes i was there i seen two guys walk out empty handed because of this. Whats up with that?

Do you mean the handgun safety certificate?

Metal Dog in San Jose did say they had HSCs available. Since you are in Gilroy, I'd call them before going. I do suggest you make it a priority to get your HSC now - just not worth the risk of having even more difficulty getting one later.Ruger MkII Target .22lr

If they're out of HSC's they're probably waiting on more to come in. It takes a little while for the shops to get new stock with how crazy things have been. You can always call around and find an FFL who has certificates on hand and get your HSC there. Once you have your HSC it is good at any FFL in the state for a period of 5 years.Oppressors can tyrannize only when they achieve a standing army, an enslaved press, and a disarmed populace. -- James Madison

Yea, a HSC is a priority now.
That makes sense...... they didnt really have any in stock. The young guy said they had ARs and glocks before the scare. Now its like a small big 5. The shops only been open for 6 months, that maybe a reason tooIf they're out of HSC's they're probably waiting on more to come in. Every one should wait till every thing cools down to buy. The mark up on guns and ammo is insane. I couldn't find ammo anywhere this past weekend every were was sold out and when I finally did find some they had some rule were I couldn't buy more then three boxes per day, and the prices were high for lower end ammo. We ended up paying $190 for 250 rd of .223 reloads, insane!Comment

Wrong timing to buy guns.. No product and if you find one its over priced..sigpic

^This. Shops have to pre-pay the fee for the cards. That's why they don't have a ton on hand. And they are very slow at filling orders for more cards from what I have been told.If they're out of HSC's they're probably waiting on more to come in. I'm not sure if waiting is a good idea. While the federal AWB and mag limits are DOA the CA legislature is cooking up a new batch of restrictions. I'd rather have a new handgun with several 10 round magazines in my hand when they pass and take the chance they will be grandfathered. I'm would be surprised if CA didn't pass an even more restrictive magazine limit this time.SAF Life MemberComment
