Last year I was telling all my gun friends to start buying ammo, just in case. I bought 1-2 boxes of ammo every week until the craze started. Now everyone is asking me if I've got ammo for sale.

      Short answer is No.

You'll find it. No worries. I saw a buttload at my local walmart yesterday (Eastlake) and smilled. Funny 'cause others were looking at the ammo display too. But none of us bought. We were just pissed that the .223 display was empty. $8.07 per box of 20 in .223 for Tula! That is eff-ing rediculously high!

Components are scarce and more new shooters drives the prices up... Simple supply & demand.

There is .22 LR ammo out there if you look hard enough. But the cheapest you will find will be probably at least .06 per round and often will be .10 per round or considerably more. If you want ammo in a shortage of panic buying, you are going to pay.

My friends who have 50k plus of .22 LR that they paid .02 or .03 a round for stockpiled from last year/previous years are laughing at me now.

The range I go to limits their sales to 100 rounds of 22lr per lane.

The LGS near me told me I can buy ammo from them as long as I only buy 3 boxes of the same caliber and 2 of the other or mixed. 5 boxes, max in total. Example: 3 boxes of 9mm. and 2 of 40cal. that would be 5 boxes total.
they also have CCI 22LFR mini mag behind the counter. I paid $10 for a box of 50 I believe. They also had the Windham AR's behind on a rack, about 8 of them, complete!
I live in east bay, SF bay area. I can tell you were if you PM me. Dont want to get it out in the open then I cant get anymore!!

And people, coworkers thought I was crazy buying 16k rounds federal bulk 22lr. 4k rounds of 5.56 federal bulk 2k of 40 sw, 45acp, 8k rounds 7.62x54r. Funny how my co workers come to me and my bosses ask for help . I'm only selling so they can keep bsis quals up and not get laid off. Like dhs. I bought in bulk to save money. Cough..... Bull****

A fella I shot with said his cousin works for one of the big ammo companies (dunno which one). Ammo is made in "runs" like guns. The "run" for 22lr is over (for his company) and they are on to other calibers. When people hoard 22lr its a done deal. No more till a later "run". Now I'm not sure if this is true (and neither is the fella I shot with) but it sounded good!

It's cheap and can't be reloaded. Oh and nearly everyone shoots it.
