    Shoot 'em Up Birthday!

So all the details have been finalized and we're heading out to FrontSight (4-day defensive handgun course) for friend's birthday in March.

This is our first time out and I've read through the all the FAQ's, etc, so I've got an idea of what to expect. However, I'm hoping to get some recommendations/tips/advice from other forum members that have already attended. Are there any drills to practice before hand, things to expect that FS doesn't readily mention on their website, etc... things like that.

Pack a roll of sport's tape. By day 2 my hands were torn up and taping up saved me a lot of pain.

Thanks madkimchee! Did you have the stock or "traction tape" grip on your gun?

The first day I got there and watch the instructors I was amused. They were like silly robots. After a day of training everything looked much better and the robots became human, or we became robots. Take as much stuff as you can to the range as it is a long way to the stores. It is a full day so keep from partying at night.

LOL! We're avoiding the Vegas/Party scene (until Thursday night) by staying at the Wine Ridge RV Resort and by the looks of it... there's nothing too "distracting" to do around there..

Is the on-site and/or the lunch catering services any good? Or would you recommend packing your own food?

Sun block, floppy hats, and long sleeve shirts. Seriously.

^ Last thing you wanna worry about is being comfortable. I'm near Yuma (River) in march, for a full week. I learned the hard way, lightweight full sleeves, Hats & general Sun Protection. Good for you to get out there for a Course!

FYI in case you are planning on buying ammo at Front Sight. Their ammo provider is having a difficult time finding ammo and is asking students to bring as much ammo as possible and they will supplement the rest. If you need all 600 rounds they cannot guarantee they will have it for you.

sigstroker & SB1964 - Thanks and good call on the long sleeve shirts!

Cartero - Thanks for the heads up! I read about the shortage on their site, so we're working on securing ammo locally before driving out.

Any recommendation for hearing protection? I know then require "electronic" and found these on Amazon: Howard Leight R-01526 Impact Sport Electronic Earmuff
