Registered Assault Weapon: If the rifle was owned before Jan 1, 2000 and registered with the state, it is a Registered Assault Weapon (RAW) under California law

would like to know if any registered weapons have been used in a crime since it went into law back in 2000?

Only if the rifle was registered as an Assault Weapon, the originl DROS did not cover this. You would have received a letter from the AG Bill Lockyer with the make, model and serial # of ant AW regitered in your name.

AFAIK...
No RAW owned by a civilian has ever been used in a crime.
Some RAWs that are owned by LEOs/former LEOs have been used in crimes. (most recent is the Dorner incident)

If you're trying to makes sense out of what's going on, forget it!

There is no logic, sense, or reason, other than to use these tragedies as an opportunity to grab guns from law-abiding citizens, violating our Constitutional rights.
