    Dad passing down hi-cap mags

I had a question regarding legality of receiving hi-cap mags my dad has. If he wanted to give me, say, a 13 round glock mag he owns legally (pre ban), is that alright? Anyway around the legal issue?

So long as he passed them down around 1999 or so, you should be good. You owned them then, RIGHT

I bought my standard capacity mags before I had even bought my gun, at the time I was saving up for my glock. Now I just buy them for replacement parts.

There is a 3 year statute of limitations in the mag law.
So as long as you got them 3+ years ago, you would have an easier time if you actually got charged with a crime.

Wouldn't it be fine if he finds them while cleaning up the house
                  No law against that

It's not a statute 'in the mag law'
                    Certain crimes have a statute

There are no age restrictions on owning magazines. I don't see a problem here if he did give them to you before 1-1-00.
