    Fowler's in S.A.

I tried to post in the Commercial Sales in the Marketplace Forum but it was closed to me... So I want to post something here please.. If it is in the incorrect forum, I ask that the Mods don't delete it but move it to where it should be. I believe that the way this jerk treated me was one of the worst examples of customer service I have experienced. It was blatant.. If you google them you will get good and bad and the bad is a mirror image of what I experienced today... and I think it should be shared and known...

Called this place today, Fowler's, to ask about availabilty adn pricing. The gun in question was a Tomcat... was told that they were on sale at this time. I noticed that ALL OF THE ITEMS THAT WERE ON SALE WERE OUT OF STOCK. So I called to ask if there would be anymore at that price...
So the phone call went something like this...
Asked about the Tomcat... with an obvious snide and obnoxious tone I was told that ther was no Tomcats, alleycats, bobcats, no kinda cats at all what so ever..
"Will there be any more avail.... is there anything else I can help you with...?
Yes, I was asking if you will have any, CLICK.... DIAL TONE...
It all happened and just that quick.. I had googled Fowlers and the Stockade and got mixed comments on both. There was some that favored that there was very poor patronizing customer service but this goes way past that..
Putz at Fowler's should have been put on a 10 day waiting period himself *****hole that he was and is.. Rude and cocky jerk... nuff said..
I wanted most of all to tell other Calguner's about the experience.. Perhaps posting this experience will do that..

How did you notice "ALL OF THE ITEMS THAT WERE ON SALE WERE OUT OF STOCK" if you weren't there?

    Website? Published add?

    Just asking. Not pointing fingers.

When I was younger, I was at Walmart, in GA, waiting on somebody to open a rack of paintball guns. I waited for a while, as is customary at most Walmart sporting goods sections. I was there for about 30 minutes when the phone rang. It rang for what seemed like an eternity. I thought I was clever and funny, so I answered "Thank you for calling Walmart, this is Bob, how may I help you?" I also had to show my wit to the girl with me. Kids...

The guy on the other end asked about the availability of this, that, and the other; so, I answered "No we are out of stock. You are going to have to call corporate HQ and request we order more. Tell them Bob sent you." I did this for 2 more calls. Finally, the real Bob showed to open the cage for me. (He was a douche that hated kids, even though I consider myself very polite. Well, except for that day with the phone.) I wonder if anything came of that.

Maybe that's what happened to you.

That is really strange for that store. I have gone to that store for close to 30 years. It is one of the last store for really good service. The other store stockade is known for workers like that. Maybe it was a guy from the stockade working at fowlers to.help out. Stockade is 20 minutes from me and fowlers is 45 minutes. I drive.to.fowlers. by the way. Ifs always easier to go.to the store.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

They're pretty good there, actually. . . I've seen them running around with a phone call on hold trying to find the right answer, checking inventory, asking other sales associates or the owner/owner's son for the right answer and then getting back to the client. I've always been treated respectfully and with good service. Most of the staff except for the one pushy lady are very knowledgeable. . .

I was in Fowler's asking about a AR-10. The guy, younger, well built was a total jerk and snickered at me. I walked out. I will not spend a dollar in that store.

Fowlers as well as the sister store the Stockade both suck! they have a great inventory but the employees suck with a passion.

Yes, both Fowlers and Stockade clerks have an attitude, in my experience. Same kind of attitude I've seen over at a certain black rifle forum, where folks seem to wear their AR's in their panties...

Best just to know that going in, and don't let their dark cloud wreck your day. Just do your business in either store, then leave them and their attitude behind as you exit the door.

On the other hand, the guys at Riflegear are great, and don't have the same my-gun-is-my-genitals problem.

I have purchased various firearms at Fowler's and the Stockade (same company) over the years with nothing but good service.
However I have seen a few get "short attention" from some of the sales guys if the buyer starts tossing out things like "sniper rifle" and whatnot.

OP, normally they are a bit short on phone calls, I'm not making any excuses for them, nor accusing you of anything... but if what went down to you, happened to me, I'd be pissed too.
Never follow the advice of Calguns Addicts,
They clearly don't know what they are talking about.

I did neglect to state in my original post that I checked out the website for fowler's and it stated on all of the specials that all were out of stock. I have heard that it a ploy many businesses use to get people in their doors and only have a couple of the sales items in stock or even just one.
My Bad on that I didn't state that. Meant too. but missed it.. apologizes if necessary. Not sure what at all that has to do with what went down on the phone...
To add, the reason for the phone call was to ask if there would be any other's in stock later at the same pricing... I got about 1/4 of the sentence out when I realized what had happened..

I will just add that I have never until this call dealt with either store before. This all happened in less than 30 seconds and that people is blatant bull****e C.S. No excuses for it, plain and simple...
It pissed me off to the point that I wanted to tell you people of it and that was my way of retalliation I suppose. Not sure what was the priority..

I've had good experiences there. Maybe because my friend and I were putting down a huge amount of money. I did notice something of an attitude from some of the other employees such as when people asked if there was a service line, when ARs would be in, etc.

When I asked about if I could use my CR license there, they asked "Aren't you alittle young to be into those guns?"

                              shrugs.
