I was Googling about anodizing at home and found this article and was wondering if anyone had tried it on their finished 80% lower

not a good idea to anodize yourself at home, but i've done it with okay results.

reason 1. you can only do type II anodizing that isn't going to harden the finish enough to be on a gun.

reason 2. Most, if not all mill spec lowers use type III anodizing, and those still get scratched.

On the upside though you can add pretty much any color to type IIs. Why not have a electro blue lower.

well most places only do type 2 anyway and I already made my 80% into 100% so a few scratches are ok. Besides I may want to change the color later

Might be too thick. When we powder coated knife blades for folders the finish at the pivot point would sometimes slow the opening of the blade, for lack of a better description. Might have to re-tap the threads if powder coated.
