    AR-15 80% lowers for $50

$50 donation gets you 1 lower!

    Looks legit.

What are the lowers going to be made from?

We are starting with aluminum because it is straightforward. We will also be experimenting with anodizing. Once we perfect the polymer lowers and are confident we can offer a superior product, these will be the default material. Aluminum will be an upgrade option, not because it it is better, but because production is more expensive.
How long will it take to receive my order?

We will be shipping on a "first-come, first-served" basis. With the current number of orders, we estimate that it will be under a month after the project closes. We will be keeping everyone up to date with our progress and production levels.
    Do you sell a jig?

Not yet, but we are planning on producing a jig that will allow completion of the lowers without the need for a drill-press. We will be notifying everyone once this becomes available.

    Hmm.....tempting.

Seems to be unclear what exactly you're going to get, polymer or aluminium. I read the FAQ and conversation section but it sounds like either they can't guarantee who will get what, or everyone is getting a polymer unless they pay $150-200. I guess for $50 each, can't complain.

I worked at Forecast rapid prototyping in Carlsbad, Ca for a few years, and have some experience with SLA, SLS, and Direct Metal Laser Sintering processes, but I don't see much info on that site referencing any manufacturing details. I have some apprehension of the actual strength of the product...cyclic shock-loading, tensile strength, etc.

I guess if you don't like what you get, you could alway sell it for a decent profit in this market.

FAQ state you can get forged alum first, and then after their competency sets in, they'll produce poly's.

They are WAAY over their $30k target in just the last week, so no more $50 lowers, only $100 per 80% from now on (until poly's come out). Pretty much close to market prices as better known distributors and MFG's at this price point.

I honestly think with the current climate, having one of those as a true paper weight on my desk at work would be awesome!
