You can find stripped lowers from good brands selling (ended sold) on gunbroker now for as low as $400/pair. The sky is not falling. Is that higher than normal yes...but its at least $ 150 per receiver lower than the high.

Lowers are getting cheaper but it'll be awhile before all the parts do. Now millions of people need uppers, barrels, forearms. Bolt carriers and lower parts kits are starting to be available longer. Its vicious cycle!

Don't be so sure prices are not coming down. A LOT of people have stocked up on lowers, ammo and other parts. At some point production is going to catch up, and will face a saturated market.

Remember the trigger for this madness was the drive for anti gun legal policy. While a nationwide AWB isn't likely, there's still the state level AWBs and gun bills to consider. If the antis in many states have their way,legal AR15 ownership will be a thing of the past.I think pro gun areas will see a slow decrease in prices as anti gun states suffer another run. If things get bad enough , well see another nationwide bubble as gun owners in NJ, MN, and even CA scramble to get their gear any way they can before the lights go out.

There is an upside to this though. The fact is that a LOT of people who hadn't owned a gun or rifle, and never really thought about it are now interested at least to a degree or involved in the hobby/sport of shooting. That means that we as hobbyists/collectors/sportsmen are able to have more selection of products down the line.

In the '90s when the yuppies & RUBs (Rich Urban Bikers) discovered Harleys that wouldn't get them dirty and they could get the image without the committment we all were licking our chops at the thought of all those low mile Evos that were gonna flood the market in a few years. Never happened. They found out it was fun.

Same with the n00bs from '08 and the present panic. I think a good percentage will discover the shooting sports and take up the hobby seriously. Women are arming themselves and getting trained. You can see them at any range, usually outshooting their SOs.

I am not waiting to buy I "over-prepared" in the summer and have actually just been selling stuff little by little. Its just something that I expect is coming.

I have a feeling it's gonna get worst b/c CA gov is majority dems, who will pass any gun law to please the big boss Obama. I'm saying it's only a matter of time. I was doing a PPT yesterday and the FFL told the buyer that there is new law and regardless of wheather the buyer has a safe or not, the rifle must come out of the store with a gun lock. I'm like dude there is no such law, the law requires either a safe or gun lock not both. So my conclusion is that the laws has not been passed yet, but some ffls are implementing, which means it must come from the top. With that said I'm stacking collection of ARs.

City of Livermore has an ordinance that requires a lock for a long gun walking out the door, safe or not.

There's a lot of expensive paperweights out there. Gun is useless without ammo. Haven't seen that come back into regular stock or the prices drop.
