    ranges that allow magnetic ammo

Where do you go to shoot magnetic ammo? I got two rifles that shoot 7.62x39 and lets face its hard to find ammo, let alone the specific brand/type you want. I got tula and wolf, is there any ranges around SD that permit it?

stupid question but what do you mean by magnetic ammo? Steel case? And why would they not allow it at certain places?

Not steel cased, steel core. The projectile is not magnetic but is attracted to a magnet if one is placed next to it.

Its not allowed at many outdoor ranges in Ca because of the fire hazzards associated with it.

+1 or South Bay Rod and Gun. Project 2000 (P2K) is where I go to when I get that Russian ammo itch.

Varies from range to range. Most milsurp and a lot of commercial .mil calibers might have steel in the jacket over lead core. WWB and S&B both sell x54R that is brass case/steel jacketed. There is steel core. Steel case.

Some ranges allow magnetic cases as long as the projectile doesn't attract a magnet. Some say no steel period.

P2K has 2 rules. "No armor piercing, no .50 BMG." Watch 'em though. Pay attention to your time. 10 minutes = 1 hr when they charge your time. I payed $25 for probably less than an hour of actual range time once.

Thank you, but what is the fire hazard with it?

+1000 for South Bay Rod & Gun Club in Dulzura. One range officer told me one that I could shoot anything up to a 5" cannon (not sure if serious).

I've been told I couldn't shoot ANY Lake City ammo at P2K. I left and went to SBR&G.

                        Was it AP?
