Don't worry. A question like this confirms you have experienced contact with the reproductive system of a woman more recently than when your mother gave birth to you. I am not sure if we can quite say the same for the Star Wars nerds.

I didn't know either. I saw the movie but I didn't know that that guy had a name.

Its the Mandalorian emblem. Thats the race that Boba Fett/Jango Fett are. The reason you don't hear about them much is because they're pretty much been in decline since the Old Republic. The Mandalorians pledged allegiance to the Sith, but after getting defeated by the Old Republic, resigned to living as mercenaries. Fast forward to Jango Fett's time and there's a Mandalorian civil war to attempt to get Mandalorians to return to their old ways. Jango Fett comes in command of these "True Mandalorians" who are all completely decimated by the Jedi. Kind of explains why Jango Fett alings with Darth Tyranus.

Thieves are the lowest form of life out there, except for liberal politicians, of course, but that's redundant.

Yeah, but it seems that they were quite accepting of other races near the end of their peak.

My fiancee actually identified the StarWars poster in the dumpster at our apartment complex as an original print (from 1977) and had it framed.

And during the days of the Old Republic, the Mandalorians were not aligned with the Sith. They were on a mission of galactic conquest for their own glory. Many Jedi even rebelled against the Council and turned dark during the Mandalorian Wars, because they felt that the Jedi weren't doing enough to help the Republic and stop the slaughter of the outer worlds. At least that's the way George and his crew tell it...

Have I redeemed myself in the ranks of nerds after mixing up my insignia?

As a side note, one of my best friends is named Luke, and the only person he's known for more than a couple weeks who he can't remember saying "Luke, I am your father" to him, is his father. Is that a little weird?

Thats the explanation for the Knights of the Old Republic arc (Darth Revan/Darth Malak). But before that, Mandalore the Indomintable were defeated by Ulic Qel-Droma who then had him swear the loyalty of the Mandalorins to the Sith.
