    Big 5 pulls gun ads?

I noticed in this Sunday's paper that Big 5's four page ad didn't have any guns in it; only pellet guns and ammo. This is the first time I've seen this.

Did they change their policy in light of recent events? Pretty cowardly if so.

More likely they don't have many to sell; no point advertising a shortage.

Maybe they don't have something to sell...

They continued to run gun ads (standard shotguns and such) in the weeks after Newtown when emotions were still running hot.

It's only been the last few weeks they haven't been advertising guns, and my guess is that with the panic they don't need to advertise. Weekly ad bargains are intended to increase sales, but there's little reason to advertise or discount items when they're already flying off of shelves.

I agree with most of the other posters. They're probably not running any gun/ammo ads because it's becoming hard for them to guarantee any of that stuff to be in stock.

I was thinking the same thing that they pulled scary guns from the display AND the ad.

no need to spend money advertising items that people are scrambling to buy at premium prices

Why do people have to jump conclusions before they have any information on why something was done and post it on the internet. Just as bad as the media.

I was in Big 5 the other day and they had the "evil" looking .22s back out on display...

This topic has already been covered about 10 times.
Like every gun store in the US, Big 5 is selling firearms as fast as they can get them. No need too spend money on advertising or give discounts, the guns are selling themslves at full price.

With Colt .22 AR clones at $675, and a Yougo Mauser for $299, the aren't exactly offering any sale prices at my local Big 5. No Remington 870 or Ruger 10/22 in stock either. If you look , every firearms outlet is trying to figure what to advertise when they have no stock to sell.

There was a thread about this a few weeks back. I have noticed this as I check their ads every week. They are not as robust as they used to be that is for sure. There are a few weeks that have had guns listed. But like I said it is very limited. Also they are definitely not posting any "scary black rifles" in their ads like they used to.

It's a shame, but places like these fold under pressure very easily.
