    Went shooting today

So me and a few friends from work went out today to blast off some rounds and have a little fun hoping to relieve some stress left over from this weeks work. However when I started blasting off rounds out of my AR and Ak, I began thinking $1, $2, $3 and so on. Than I switched to hand guns and same thing. In this economy and with the craze, its hard to have fun knowing your hard earned dollars are being shot out of a barrel in only a matter of seconds.

So after we were done shooting I was driving home thinking about when my Sig Sauer 1911 22lr would be coming in as it has been on order for about 5 weeks now.. Thats when I got a great idea. I sped over to the local gun store and there she was. I picked up a Browning Buck Mark Contour 5.5 URX 22lr. Now I can go out and relax again while firing off some cheap 22lr rounds. Only bad part is an 11 day wait.

22lr is also hard to get in some areas, fortunately i have a 22 conversion kit for my 45. Do you know of a store with plenty of 22.

When I shoot my AR 15 in 223 I count 19 cents, 38 cents, 57 cents .............Actually I just figure a 20 dollar bill for two of my 50 round ammo boxes of 223.

9mm is running 9.5 cents per round (bear creek moly coated lead bullets, tula/wolf primers, win 231/hp 38) for me and I can crank out 100 rounds in 3 minutes.

30-30 would cost me $4.80 per 100 rounds to buy the components and lead to cast my bullets, but I am using product I didn't even have to pay for.

I still think about how much money I spend on ammo for a day at the range and then realize it isn't great for my health to think about it. It is still cheaper than some of my other hobbies.

Get into reloading and stock up on components when the prices are lower.

Even if you don't reload, it pays to stock up when ammo is plentiful.

I have also been shooting a bit more 22lr. I don't want to blow through my components too fast, although turners was looking a little sad on their bullet supply, compared to mine, last time I was there and that was before all of the panic.

Do you have a stash of .22 LR? Because if you don't, good luck on finding any. I did pretty well last month, but this month, all of my .22 LR sources are dry as the desert.

Yea, Luckily I stock piled alot of 22 rounds well before the craze lol. I think I used to pay around $13.94 a brick so I figured back than why not. Only problem is I only had 22lr rilfes until the recent months. Now I am purchasing a few 22 hand guns.

No stores in specific. When I am in the local Walmart's or by a local sporting good store I will stop in to check. I was in the a local shop today and not one box off 22lr. They did have a bunch of 223 however, at $19.99 a box limit 3 per customer.

I went shooting yesterday and had finished a magazine and had three rounds left on the table. Usually I'd shoot until I was out, maybe just some rapid fire or put some rounds into a distant bush. But with ammo so unavailable and expensive, I packed away my brave three rounds for another day.

I'm heading out to the desert next Friday and taking a coworker who doesn't own any guns. I already figured that the cost to replace what I'll be shooting (if it was available) would be ~$500. Usually, I wouldn't even consider asking a new shooter for money for ammo, but I'm having to rethink that these days. Maybe just gas money and lunch?

I'm still in it for the fun. If I go out and shoot 100 rounds at $1 a round, I'm still having more fun than going to Disneyland which charges $87 per ticket and that doesn't include parking or food.

Not that I would want to go to Disneyland, just chose it for comparison..
