So I ordered a 10/22 rifle online. No place locally had them in stock or knew when they would get any. Out the door including shipping to the ffl came out to $250.00, sounded fair to me. I looked on the list of ffl dealers they had near me and choose one. Paid for it last night, then this morning I called the gun shop to tell them that a rifle with my name would be being shipped to them in the next couple of days. She said it would be $150.00 for out of state transfer, plus CA tax, plust the DROS fee. WTF?

Is this normal? $150.00 ? Is this some sort of punishment for not buying locally or something?

The fee is whatever they set it at for out of state transfers...I would call The Armory in Clovis and see what they charge.

If it is less...(I think in is)...just have the FFL ship it there instead.

BTW...was it Spencers or Herb Bauer that wanted $150 + DROS?

This is not unusual. They can pretty much charge however much they want... Guns Direct in Burbank charges $80 I believe. The tax and dros are mandatory so no way around it. Good luck

There is no limit to the fee a CA FFL dealer can charge for this type of transfer.

I've been quoted from $60-250.

So, you need to shop around before purchasing a firearm out-of-state and having it shipped to the CA FFL dealer.
