    Big Bear Mayor

"Enjoy your time here in Big Bear"

"Thank you for taking time out of your schedule to be here"

Clearly the skills to be elected differ from the skills to be intelligent.

    - It is no longer Republican vs Democrat; the battle of the 21st century is authoritarian (Rep+Dem) vs libertarian.
    - The Republican Tent is Full of Elephant Sh*t
    - The Democrat Elixir is Donkey P*ss

People get so critical of elected city officials. I most cities, Los Angeles being an obvious exception, the members of the city council and the mayor are not career politicians. They are typically local citizens that step up to do a pretty thankless job. There is no training for it. When something out of the ordinary happens, they are frequently ill prepared to be the spokespeople for the city.

If you think you can do better, I would hope you would run for city council in your next city election!

ETA: And, as we are discussing intelligence, how does this thread in any way fit the forum heading of "General Gun Discussions"? Maybe OT would have been more appropriate?

Oh, I don't know... I think he has some redeeming qualities:

“There is no panic,” said Big Bear Mayor Jay Obernolte. “We're very hardy residents…and many people are armed.”

I though the same when I saw the interview, He kinda acted like they all gathered there for a camp-out or a celebration instead of a man search for a murder. Just struck me (and I guess I am not alone) as odd.

Right!!! What was he supposed to say "Don't come here, we need your money but a dangerous, cop killer is on the loose and maybe in your $1,000.00 per night rented cabin."

Blaming a gun for crime is like blaming a fork for Rosie O'Donnell being FAT!

Do you have any idea how much money it takes to run for city council? Count on $20,000+ depending on the size of the city.

Get back to us when YOU decide to run.
