GROUP BUY - ALUMINUM 80% SIG P22x FRAMES

I was directed to start a list specific to the KT Ordnance Sig P226/228/229 80% aluminum frame. We need a minimum order of 100 aluminum frames, w/ approx 75 to go.

***Only sign up if it will not take away from the original group buy.***

The BATFE has declared the design a non-firearm, with the following to be finished by the builder:

    1) Slide rails
    2) Take-down hole
    3) Trigger hole
    4) Hammer strut hole.

It will be originally machined in 2 parts which will be dip-brazed together. There will be a picatinny accessory rail on the dust cover.

    Here are the specifics:

    Cost per frame will be $250 + shipping ( ~$7 for 1, $11 for 2-5, and $15 for 6-8 units).

We're looking at having payment due by 5/1/13. Turn times look to be approx 90 days from payment receipt. Will submit sooner if we can hit our goals. No money will exchange hands until goals are reached. Thanks everyone.

Is there a thread this is associated with? I'd like to read a little more before committing to it...

              Jesus people, deep breath.

I am seeking interest in aluminum frame as an alternative, and in addition to this: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=611824. If we can reach 100 we can have a run of aluminum frame made as well. At 200 total frames there may be a better deal to be had.

                    I'm game for a 229

I'm game for a 229 if this is still going on. What else do we need to finish it? Build party and jig available in OC?

                      well hello.

interesting to see another Sig P22x GB pop up (this one for aluminum frames) before the 1st has even met its 100 frame minimum (we're at ~60 now).
sure hope the demand can support both efforts, i'd love to see KTO sell 200 frames!
it'll be interesting to see how the market can support the need for parts kits as well.
anyway, best of luck to you.

                        goober:

I took your advice, and posted up to see it there was enough interest. Too bad the Steel frames are more expensive and includes compensation for the organizers. Pretty sure all the steel guys would take aluminum, and the $ savings.

We're at approx 10, so still got a long way to go.

How much would it cost to finish a p229r? Im interested but trying to check the figures and see if its better to build or just buy one.

Hey...I am really interested in a steel frame...does anyone have a cost breakdown of how much this "build" will cost to complete? How frequent do build parties happen in Northern Cali form this type of build? Any input would greatly be appreciated....thanks in advance.

Ugh, this is gonna break the demand that wasn't high enough already into two groups!!

I really would like to see one or the other go forward. I don't think there is enough interest for both. Can you guys figure out a compromise? Maybe one then the other?
