    UPDATE....Post #1...Turners said I will fail dros?

I did a PPT yesterday at Tuners in Kearny Mesa.
I submitted my DL with a hole punched in it and the DMV paper DL.
Sales man said they will continue with the paper work but there is a very high chance it will fail.

The paper license expires next month and my hard copy expires in 2016.
I added endorsements for a truck driving position so the reason for the punched hole had nothing to do with address change or experation.

Addresses are matching on both DL's.

Also other party who was involved knows PPT's and said not to worry about it.

Just to ease my mind, what do you think?

    UPDATE:

    It is day 10.
I called Turners to confirm if everything was ok before I waste time and gas.
They said "If we didn't call you, you have nothing to worry about."

So I'm headed up there now to pick up new toys.

I am not an expert, but I found this on the DOJ's website. I don't know if having your old one with the photo in addition to the temp changes anything. You could call the DOJ ( http://oag.ca.gov/firearms/contact ).

Do I need to send copies of my dealer's Federal Firearms License and local firearms license(s) to DOJ? How is DROS information submitted? How do I get copies of the blank DROS worksheet? How can I correct or cancel a DROS submission?

Clear evidence of identity and age is defined as a valid California driver's license or a valid California Identification Card issued by the DMV. Military identification is also acceptable if accompanied by permanent duty station orders indicating a posting in California, but the dealer must retain copies of both documents.

Temporary driver licenses and temporary identification cards (issued without photo) are not accepted forms of proof of identity and age.

DMV told me that the hole makes the DL into a valid ID.
I need the paper DL to drive.

I'd personally call the DOJ, specify what DMV said, and see what they say.

If it's positive, I'd get the DOJ person's name and then call Turners and report what was said. I'd also pass along the DOJ number and person's name. (I'd actually ask to talk to a manager at Turners and get a name there also).

What about bringing your passport along with your hole punched DL and paperwork?

It should be fine, just hope that the guy at Turners clicked CAID instead of CADL on your license. But even then, that's their screw up, not yours

I tried to do a PPT at Parralax when I lived in CA, and they wouldn't do it with a hole in my license, even though I had a valid paper license at the time.

When I mentioned that I was renewing my ID for firearm transfer...while at the DeMonV...an employee who overheard my question asserted that an expired ID will not work for my PPT.

He made no mention of a punched hole.

Yeah we started at American shooting center. They wouldn't do it period.

                              There are two issues here.

First, Turners by law should not have started you. Without a valid plastic CA ID or DL, they should not have started your paperwork. That is the legal and proper procedure.

Two, you very well might get denied as a DMV Reject. In the past you could get away with this since technically you have a valid license, just not a plastic copy. However, I have seen this happen on my actual customers so I know it isn't BS. The DMV and DOJ are working together and the DOJ knows when you have a paper copy and a plastic copy. I had customers last June start their DROS and we missed that their plastic copies were expired. They had their paper copies that were not. They were denied as a DMV reject.

Once their plastic copy arrived like a week later, they came in and re-started no problem. So the DOJ knows when you have a plastic vs. a paper license.

At this point do not contact anyone. Just lay low. Either you will get denied or you won't. Nothing you do now is going to change it, unless you tip your hand to the DOJ and they go digging and figure out you might have slipped through and now you won't.

If you get denied, wait for your plastic copy to come in and then go start again. Just hope Turners doesn't charge you too much for wasting their time when they warned you.

                              Please keep us updated.
