7.62 pistol 101

Fellow calgunners,

I hope to get some basic education on the differences between the four AK47 pistols that I have recently learned about: please excuse any incorrect references or description.

-zastava
-krinkov (krink)
-draco
-yugo
-and/or any other pistols in the same class

please advise on which one of the above listed pistols is considered superior and why. I have read that draco may not have the same quality compared to zastava and krink, however it has chrome lined barrel. Is this a major consideration among these pistols? are there any other features that should be given more consideration?

What is PAP m92? I have seen both zastava and krink with M92 PV.

The zastava m92 is basically a yugo krinkov without the underfolding stock.

Imo, it's the best made ak pistol unless you can get your hands on one with a milled receicer (arsenal).

Without a rear sling mount and single point sling, they're pretty useless. I tried firing one without a sling and couldn't hit much, until i held it like a regular (but ungainly ) pistol.

But forget a rapid rate of fire with that hold

"Krinkov" or "Krink" is a term to describe the Soviet/Russian made AKS-74U and other countries clones of it.

Yugo is short of Yugoslavia, which is a country that no longer exists.

Zastava is a firearms manufacturer that was in Yugoslavia and is now in Serbia.

While Yugoslavia was still a country, Zastava manufactured the M-92 for the Yugoslavian Gov/Mil. The Zastava M-92 was basically the Yugoslavian version/copy of the "Krinkov".

Currently, Zastava manufacures the 7.62x39mm PAP M92 PV and 5.56x45mm PAP M85 PV, which are semi-auto only pistol variants of the Yugoslavian M-92 "Krinkov".


The 7.62x39mm Draco and 5.56x45mm Champion were semi-auto only pistol variants of the Romanian AIMR rifle. They were manufactured in Romanian and imported into the USA by Century Arms. The Romanians have ceased production of the Draco & Champion for over a year and do no plan on restarting production.

Not including home-builts and money being no object...

First choice = Arsenal SAM7K
Second choice = Zastava PAP M92 PV


I own a Romarm Draco.
The fit & finish on the Arsenal and the Zastava are way better than the Romarm.

Homebuilt AMD 65 pistol? Aren't there some kits with original barrels available? It would be cool to have one using an original barrel and original VFG as long as its OAL is over 26".
