    PPT/FFL

Would sending/receiving a firearm via FFL to FFL still considered a PPT purchase? I'm interested in purchasing from a private party and this individual has agreed to send the firearm thru his FFL to my FFL. Is this still considered a PPT?

nope. a PPT must be face-to-face, among other requirements.

Also, you may want to have the seller send a letter that the firearm is a gift, otherwise your FFL may charge you taxes. At least that's what I was told anyway.

        In CA...
Private Party Transfer (PPT) = A face-to-face transfer between CA residents facilitated by a CA FFL dealer.

Example: you meet the seller at Ammos Bros. in Cerritos(FFL).You fill out paperwork; DOJ forms. The seller doesnt.
You and the seller must be face to face, in person as previously posted. Both gotta be Calif residents. You must provide a proof of residence such as utility bill or Calif DMV registration. I like to bring both. If a handgun, you must have the taken the test and have a Calif handgun card for taken the safety course/test.
You pay the usual $35 to Ammo Bros(FFL) and usually too you gotta buy a cable lock. The FFL is covering their butt.
I've done this 9 times in the past year. So make sure youre already and have all your ducks lined up. Otherwise, its a no go.
As far as the money transaction..........up to you and the seller.

Yea, I forgot. The FFL takes the firearm and box it came in if any and magazines and then there is the 10 wait period(background check). At 1:30pm 10 days from now if you did it today, you can go back to Ammo Bros and pick it up. They hold it for 30 days.

Thanks for all the replies. I've completed an FTF PPT via FFL but never have tried a long distance private party sale using a California FFL to California FFL.
