Bay Area Gun Vault has lost a customer (BAGV)

So I know it's crazy times and LGS are trying to cash in on it, but poor customer service around PPTs is not excusable

I go in to BAGV today, put my name on the "list" for service, wait about 40 minutes until they call my name, and when I tell them I'm doing a PPT, they say "PPTs are low priority customers, you will have to wait..."

There is NO signage saying this, Nothing on the sign up sheet, and the kids behind the counter doesn't tell me this when I come in and he inspects the gun for safety

Yes, I was not a buying customer at that moment, but I have bought a half dozen guns there in the past 2-3 years and just dropped a couple hundred on parts and Ammo there two days ago

So they only make $10 for a ppt, it's <10 mins if done correctly, $60/hr in PPTs is $120k a year at 40hrs x 50 weeks, which more than pays for a staff person

Sorry Bay Area Gun Vault, you lost another customer for life, an especially deep pocketed customer

Wow that sucks! I've been there alot and they were always very helpful and seemed to take their time to help you out. Seems like they are losing good, long time customers just to make a sale. When things slow down it'll be different.

Basically by the time they had called my name, 6-7 more "customers" had come in after so I would be waiting around for a long time for a PPT

They lost me with charging after the 10 day waiting period crap, even if they're closed.

A lot of gun stores have a serious bug up their butt about PPTs and as far as I can tell they're the same places that seem fine until anything that goes wrong and then suddenly it's the customer's fault. Just generally have a bad attitude and are best avoided.

I've done a few at Jackson Arms and they were always really good in regards to PPT. Probably the quickest and least hassle of all places.

I recently did two PPTs at Metal Dog Tactical and they took about 10 minutes each.

I try not to use Reeds or Targetmasters as they are sloooooow.

I think Lisa at Rogers Relics is the fastest in the Bay Area. She's got the process down cold. Sit here, sign there, wham, bam, you're done!

A PPT doesn't take 10 minutes, especially when you're busy. The gun has to be logged in to the book and the receipt book, payment has to be processed, and it has to be stored. It's a 40 minute process to say the least, even when you're not busy. I challenge anyone on this forum, who is not a gun shop employee or owner, to try to register just one gun via PPT. Its a pain in the a**, and I don't blame them for telling you that it's a low priority. And for the record, i don't work there, but I am also a deep-pocket customer, and one who has been shopping there for years. Give them a break, it's busy, and PPT's pull a guy off the floor for a long time. It has nothing to do with money, it has everything to do with losing staff.

Well I've gotten in and out on a ppt in 10 mins last week...either way the attitude is not appreciated

If you are going to make PPTs wait, then let people know when they walk in and check their weapons, don't tell them after 30-40 mins of waiting

Good customer service doesn't make a customer wait any longer or any shorter depending upon how much they are spending.

I was there! I heard them tell you that but wasn't paying attention to who you were and I think you walked out before I could turn around.

I was the guy wearing the ESP guitar T-Shirt.

Yea that sucked. My buddy was picking up his lower and got denied due to change of address DMV thing even though Reeds and TM said it was ok.

Did a PPT here about a year ago and waited about 10 min(before the panic). Friendly but things have changed a little since the panic but no excuse.
