Glock 22 .40 California ownership

I am interested in buying a Glock 22 .40 and live in California. I am reading all kinds of different articiles about CA ownership. Simple question, can I go to a shop in CA and purchase a Glock 22 .40 (with a ten round mag of course). Some of hte articles I have read talkedx about the gen4 being only for LE but how about the gen3? Thanks for your help.

You can get a Gen 3 in California, that is not a problem. You are correct about the Gen 4, but you can also do a SSE purchase.

No problem. The G22 is a fine weapon. Because of the present gun FRENZY right now, most guns are OUT OF STOCK. In fact, Glock is back ordered 600,000 guns.

When things are normal you can buy a GEN3 or if you look around, some FFLs do a SSE (read the sticky up top) and sell the GEN4s.

I would check the marketplace here on Cal Guns; you might find what you're looking for.

I have seen several Glocks in 40 cal at a few different shops. One shop had a bunch of guns still, but that is because they bought from other gun stores and jacked the price up even further. So if you are crazy and want to spend $750-$850, I know a few days ago Gun World in Burbank had some.

I've seen a few Glock 22s at Turner's (Gen 3), but they seem to be sold out everywhere with the craze.

If you want to consider agency/Law Enforcement trade-ins, a River City Gun Exchange here in Sacramento has Gen 3 Glock 22s for $429. Don't know too much about shipping and all, but comparatively I have seen Law Enforcement trade-ins go for about $350 and up.

LEO only? I say screw that, find a local FFL who will do a SSE and get on gunbroker...bid on a auction for a Glock Gen 4. Gonna do my DROS on my Glock27 Gen4 tomorrow that just arrived at my FFL today.

Yes, you can go to a CA gun shop and buy a Glock 22 .40 with a ten round mag. The newest model may not yet be on the CA Handgun List and not yet available for sale to ordinary citizens.

When you buy from a CA FFL Dealer or buy from a out of state and have it shipped to a CA FFL Dealer, the handgun must be on the California Not Unsafe Handgun List.

If you are buying from a CA resident non-dealer (ordinary person) by PPT Transfer the handgun does not need to be on the List, but it cannot be considered an "Assault Weapon." (Threaded barrel, second handgrip, barrel shroud, etc. etc.) A handgun Assault Weapon would be really unusual to find in CA. See the Assault Weapon Chart:

Not sure if you are aware that we are in the depths of the Second Great Obama Gun and Ammo Buying Frenzy. Panicked gun owners and would be gun owners have stripped gun store shelves bare and it's not easy to find the gun you would like. Be patient, shop your local gun stores, shop online, CalGuns has a good Forum for buying and selling stuff. Might be that your Glock will cost 50% more than it did a couple of months ago.

You might want to think about waiting for some months (6 months?? A year??) until the Frenzy dies down and guns are more easily found.

I just purchased the g22 a month or so ago ( in live in CA). It is a great gun and I love it. The only issue you might have is getting ammo for it. Yes I know all ammo is hard to find right now but, I read an article talking about the government buying x- billon rounds of .40. Just something to think about before you buy the g22

.40 availability is no worse than 9mm right now, and, in fact, might be a little better.
