Thank you for contacting me about gun safety. I always appreciate hearing from my constituents, and I am glad to receive your input on this important issue.
I come from a family of hunters and gun owners. I know that guns can be used responsibly and the Second Amendment provides individuals certain rights to own firearms. However, as a former prosecutor whose father is a retired police officer and whose younger brother currently serves in law enforcement, I have seen first-hand the damage guns can cause. Firearms are used to kill tens of thousands of Americans each year.
I feel we can balance these interests, protecting the rights of gun owners while at the same time keeping weapons of war out of civilian hands. It is time to take common sense steps to reduce gun violence. If we fail to act, nothing will change

My response...
I strongly disagree. I can see now that your agenda tries to remove our constitutional rights. The agenda you follow still does not prevent crime and will not prevent "criminals" from getting firearms illegally. That is why they are criminals in the first place. If they followed the process that we law-abiding citizens follow, no criminals will get their hands on the firearms you describe or any firearms for that matter. Unfortunately, this common sense thinking does not seem to sink with you or your party.
You're balancing effort actually just labels all of us law abiding citizens as criminals.
