    Seeking A Gun Store...

    Hello.

A gunsmith in Ohio has finished working on my custom rifle and needs an FFL to send it to.

I think I've read that gun stores lose money on this type of stuff, so I'm wondering where I should have the gunsmith send it to?

In the East Bay? I'd hit Roger's Relics. Best transfer fees I know of in the area. Down in San Jose.

They're appointment only, look 'em up and give them a call.

Why would gun stores lose money on out of state transfers? The issue for transfers is usually that the gun stores believe they don't make enough money for the amount of work that they do.

Ghost, it's a bolt action rifle.

M Sage, yes East Bay. Roger's Relics is a bit far for me. My main source of transportation is a Giant OCR2 bike

5th Speed, I don't know. It was just something I may have read on here. It may have been about PPT, not sure.

            There's always Caltrain.

Dunno if it's worth the $$ you'll probably save.

ok jason since it`s a bolt action you`ll have no problems drosing it.since alot off ffls are still spooky about the whole off-list stuff still.youre in the east bay you can try irvington arms in fremont or castro valley gun shop, there are other it just depends on you location in the bay area.

IIRC, you can also go to either gunbroker.com or gunsamerica.com and one of them provides a list of ffls in your area by zip code. They also list what they charge, tho you might call to ascertain if it has changed.

I just can't recall which one does it since I haven't been on either for awhile.

Just a fyi in case none of the Calgunners who do it aren't close to you.

ETA: I just checked and they both provide it. Gunbroker.com seems to provide a larger list tho. Try them both.

Did you send your gun to the gunsmith for work? If so, he can send it right back to you, no ffl needed.
But, if its one that hes built, and you now need to dros, then of course regular rules apply.

Yeah. Nothing wrong with that, is there?

Ha ha ha, no. I was planning on breaking it down (barreled action and stock) and putting it in my very large Kifaru backpack.

Either that, or bumming a ride from a buddy.
