I see two models on the safe list shown below.
FN 5.7 I.O.M. / Steel, Polymer Pistol 4.8" 5.7x28mm 3/23/2009
FN 5.7 U.S.G. / Steel, Polymer Pistol 4.8" 5.7x28 mm 4/12/2009 -
Thanks for the link.Comment

Yes it is legal.
Use Search for find more information about them.
I can recommend a place for them in the Bay Area, if it's nearby.
The USG is the currently manufactured model. The IOM is (IMHO) preferred because of the exterior, but they are mechanically identicle firearms.Comment

If the USG model is the most current version then why do you say the IOM is the preferred model, you would think the more current model would be the better improved model and so the most desired of the two, or am i reading you wrongly, also what are the actual changes between the two models.Comment

The IOM is smoothed out a little bit, and the most prominent difference is the rounded trigger guard.
The USG has different than the IOM: aggressive texture on the frontstrap and backstrap; a larger magazine button, with texturing; serrations on the ambi-safety; and a squared trigger guard.
They are identical firearms, mechanically. I prefer the IOM because of the interesting look of the trigger guard, and because I think it feels better in the hand than the USG, which is very aggressively textured.Comment

Thanks leelaw i shall take a look at them both before buying, by the way do you know of a dealer in the bay area that sells them at a good price.Comment

they are nice... get ready to LOVE paying for ammo. The ammo is kinda pricey and kinda rare. Still I'd lvoe to get one if I wasn't so cheap.
-bixSure I work on Guns ; 105, 120 and 155mm. There was that 20" though.Comment

Round count per box ?
What retail location in Fairfield ?
I don't have the 5.7 pistol yet but might have to pick up some of this ammo just to have, It could make a valuable bartering item down the road.

i was under the impression that the usg model also had a magazine disconnect safety while the other didnt.
Oh yea.. and it is legal for sure... we picked one up for my friends on wednesday and shot it at the Burbank firing line that nite. Ran really great right out of the box. I was honestly impressed.sigpicComment

The difference ebtween the IOM and USG are cosmetics only.

I plan to attempt to see one tomorrow in Sac.
A dealer that I have bought from (7-8 years ago) is an authorized distributor.
Don't know if he has the 5.7 in though....Comment
