    My S&W silver bars!

I was pawing through the fine silver bucket at a shop a friend works at, and stumbled on these 1 oz bars of .999 fine. Since silver had dropped down to 17 or so, I went ahead and picked them up, just because they're cool.

Unfortunately, they're not in great shape and are a bit scuffed up from being in the bucket, but I'm pretty pleased with them anyway.

You already made a 1.40 on each one.
    A Smart investment.

Those are neat - were (are?) they made by S&W themselves, or a 3rd party?

3rd party. There are lots of small mints, and many of them come up with interesting designs to attract the accumulators. If you like quirky, shiny things with intrinsic value like I do, it's hard not to pick up a handful on a regular basis, but you can get out of control. Still, as SAS says, if you buy carefully, you can come out ahead these days (until it all crashes again).

It's fascinating to dig around in the silver buckets at a coin/metals shop, as there's just about everything you can imagine there. Presidents, religious figures, famous artwork, historical landmarks, movie stars, you name it. Some are quite beautiful, but very, very few of them are worth more than melt value, and they're all just dumped into a bucket.

              Very Cool !
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.
