need help with shipping gun within caLifornia

Can i ship a lower to an ffl in another city within california, without having to go through an ffl myself? Can i just drop off the lower at usps, and have it shipped to the new owners ffl? Is there paperwork i must complete before sending? I know from experience when we do a ppt, they require the sellers information along with a thumb print and signatures. Has anyone shipped a lower reciever this way? Any information would be great, ive searched everywhere for the correct answer.

some ffls require it be shipped by another ffl incase the buyer fails dros. it gets shipped back to the other ffl.

there is no ca law requiring you to declare a firearm shipped inside of the state, its only when its shipped to another state where you must tell the carrier.

its against UPS rules to not tell them what is in the box. people who think they are being smart put "machined parts" as the contents thinking no one but gun people can use the internet and find out what that is. worst off would be a thief who knows that term...then realizes you didnt declare a firearm so there will be no investigation if it comes up missing. so if you are going to lie...dont say "machined parts". if the destination is Freds Guns and Rifles...dont think "car parts" is going to fool anyone either.

call the receiving ffl ask what he wants, most just want a copy of your drivers license.

sometimes its best to call local ffls and ask how much they charge to ship to another ffl also ask what they charge to release the gun back to you if the buyer fails dros.

I'd suggest taking a signed copy of the ffl's license, or print his atf ez-check page and take either to the PO...that lets the PO person know it's going to a licensee.

          Insure, get delivery verification.

ATF ez-check at https://www.atfonline.gov/fflezcheck/ You'll need the first three and last five number's of the ffl's license.

To get a copy of the license, you have to ask the ffl to mail or fax you one.

I'm not sure what you mean by "detrimental"...you started this thread by asking if you could ship rifles to YOURSELF and you were advised that was legal.

Now you're curious about shipping your guns to a licensee so you can take delivery.

Confused, just a bit. Did I miss something?

some FFLs will not give you a copy of their license... for security reasons.

I was trying to ship a complete lower to an ffl for a buyer in the bay area, he got in touch with the ffl i was going to ship with, and my ffl told the buyer we could go straight through the post office and avoid ffl fees on my end, from what i know, here in california, we cant ship any guns without shipping through an ffl to another ffl, we ended up getting opinions from his ffl and wild bills in town, and they said that was a no go, so we ended up just ppting at wild bills, and he will just make a trip back to pick it up after the ten days.
But i believe my ffl, golden state tactical, knows his stuff.

Not sure what you are asserting but a complete lower has to go to a FFL, but can be shipped from an individual. A FFL can demand that it be shipped from another FFL, but it is not a law. It does Cover the FFL *** if the transfer is denied and the gun has to be returned.
